If I say someone’s name during an intercom, don’t tell me you can’t intercom contacts, just send the damn intercom Siri.

Holy shit how has Apple not been able to fix the piece of absolute dogshit that is Siri over this many years? I genuinely LOATHE using my phone sometimes because of things like that… not to mention simple things like selecting text.

Matthew, I know of your background with workflow so I hope you won’t take offense, but I absolutely hate Shortcuts. Mostly because I find it too difficult to understand. I don’t know if this is a widespread problem, although I do know that Apple geeks, love it and understand it well but I could never get into it. Therefore, I’m really hoping that Apple intelligence capabilities do not depend to heavily on it to do all the things that I would like to do. Also, I hope Apple is paying close attention to what requests people have that go out to ChatGPT so thateventually, Apple dependence on ChatGPT will cease and we can just function with apples cloud. Not too happy about the ChatGPT integration although I see it is necessary for now.

I'll give the first person $10 who can tell me why I can't play the ABC News Update podcast using a shortcut. It always says it can't find the podcast but I can play it just fine in the default Podcast app. This has been driving me nuts for months. It used to work just fine.

So dude doesn't even show you how to get to the first step at all... its like teaching someone how to fry an egg or ride a bike, but you never tell them how to get the egg or bike... like how the heck do you get to your first screen? Hi Matthew, really interesting talk. I'm looking for a way to switch spaces on multiple displays at the same time. The idea is to work on different things, create a set of multiple displays to work on. e.g. work on VSC then one display VSC the other a set of Safari and the 3rd display a set of terminals. Then switched to another spaces on all displays and there have another set of apps. Do you know if there is a way to do that? Thx

I think you should do a follow up to this. I just took your shortcut and combined it with ChatGPT, asking it to speak this morning briefing in the style of Marcus Aurelius. There is a lot of potential for combining ChatGPT with the shortcuts to give the responses more personality.

Thanks Matthew for the great video. I'm fairly new to Shortcuts. I created a menu and when one of the actions complete it doesn't return back to the menu. Is there a way after an action is completed to return back to the menu? Also, is it possible to call another shortcut within a shortcut? Thanks.

Is it possible to enable/disable sim based on focus automatically? e.g. When my focus for work gets turned on, I would like to be able to have my work line turned on and off when work focus is off. Hopefully this happens automatically without me having to run it. Is that something shortcuts can do?

Just can’t get this to work. It only shows a UI in edit mode. Otherwise it runs but nothing is displayed.

Matt, any idea how to slow down Siri and add pauses between a question and options to choose ? I have a Shortcut for translation and Siri rattles off without pausing and it’s hard to hear. I tried adding a wait command for 1 or 2 secs but it doesn’t make any difference. I’m one of these people who slows down UA-cam videos to .75 or .5% to listen to them. 😅😢

How to go about creating shortcuts?

Do you know how to disable the four finger swipe? This always happens when im playing a rhythm game and sometimes have to swipe four times at the same time during a song. Then this happens and when i go back to the game i mess up my combo. It's super annoying and i can't find any videos that show how to deactivate it. Edit: Nevermind i just found it: you have to go to general, and then gestures. Youll see the 4/5 finger swipe there and can just deactivate it. Im dumb lol

Help! I checked out your website and know there are shortcuts there I need but am too overwhelmed to find. Apple support suggested I look at your page. I got HomePod minis to try and keep my ADHD kids on track. I need announcements to sound through the speakers and say things like: Log on For Math Class (I can make audio files). They need to be connected to calendars because they have a complicated schedule. Some classes are every other week, some are two weeks in a row then now the other days. I want to set up a calendar for their school events and then have the announcements sound through the house so they know what they need to be doing. Is this possible? Also I would love a shortcut that could log them on to the right zoom meeting. For example, Hey Siri, connect me to my next zoom meeting. Different links for every class gets confusing for these kiddos and me. If what I want doesn't exist can I pay you to write these for me?

What books, languages or resource can I read to learn more about how use this app for things I do on a daily basis? I am trying to make my school life and work flow easier because I waste a lot of time doing stupid little tasks like converting files, looking for files, downloads going to wrong folders when I batch download etc… would love to be more educated on this scripting thing
